Leesa vs. Casper Mattress – Which Is The Best Bed In A Box? (2020 Review)
What’s up guys, Today we’re doing another post about how Leesa and Casper compared. The fact that matter is these brands are constantly updating their products, their models, their policies, their pricing, all this stuff, so I figured it was time that we do another comparison.
Now we have done individual reviews of all of the Leesa mattresses and all of the Casper mattresses, and probably a hundred other beds, and so I’ll try to link all of that stuff down below for you. Actually, I’ll try to put coupons below too.
Alright, how are Casper and Leesa similar? Actually, probably the better question is how are they not similar. They have a ton in common. I’d say the first thing is they’re both widely known online mattresses. They offer different models, like Casper has the hybrid option, they have WAV, they have Casper WAV hybrid, they have Casper essential. Leesa has Leesa hybrid, and Leesa legend.
When we’re talking about the original beds, though these are foam mattresses with more of a neutral just general soft foam feel. So these are the types of beds, like, when people email us and they say I just want a comfy foam bed for college, I’m like: “Boom! Casper, and Leesa. Either one, you’re probably going to really like them!”
They have a similar overall feel. They might use memory foam, but they don’t feel at all like memory foam; so just a classic soft foam feel, super comfy, extremely accommodating. You take 100 people, and 90% of them probably like the feel of the bed. It’s maybe not exactly what they want, but it has an accommodating feel that they would be just fine with.
Leesa and Casper are both good for couples, given that they have such an accommodating overall feel. I guess what I’m trying to say is they’re not divisive, really, in any way. Like they’re just comfy, nice, foam beds.
Now on top of that, they do have a somewhat similar construction. So they have a dense support core. They have transitional layers of foam in the center, one of which is memory foam, and then they have an open-cell foam on top, so you’ve got a “breathable” foam – with Casper. that’s kind of what they call it.
And then with Leesa, they have their LS A200 foam. If you just rip apart the mattresses, you’ll notice that they just have this, you know, neutral feel to them, almost kind of like a fluffy marshmallow. So they’re very similar in their overall construction.
The policies are pretty much the exact same thing: free shipping; you can try it out for 100 nights at your home, if you don’t like it inside the trial window, totally free returns; and then a 10-year warranty.
Also they’re good for all sleeping positions. Back, stomach, side, combination sleepers, pretty much whatever position you sleep in, they’re fine for that. If you want an especially soft mattress or a super firm mattress, these two beds aren’t really going to fit that.
Leesa Hybrid Mattress
Leesa has Leesa Legend, which is on the softer end. They have Leesa Hybrid, which is on the firmer end. Casper has some other options for you, but these particular beds are more like a medium on the firmer scale, right about a 5 out of 10.
I would say Casper is a little softer than Leesa, but they’re super close on firmness. And then the other thing is they’ll work with a variety of foundations. Really, you can kind of have your pick of the litter, as long as it has almost no flex to it, you should be good. Adjustable bed frames, a lot of slotted bed frames, even the floor! You can just check the warranty section, and you can learn more about the suitable foundation.
What’s the Difference?
Now let’s focus on Casper first. So one big thing with Casper is it’s a tiny bit softer. So if you are more of a side sleeper, you might prefer Casper. Although I think you’ll be just fine on Leesa. Now the flip side of that is Leesa might get the edge for back and stomach sleepers, because it’s like a hair firmer. But you’re really close no matter what.
Casper Foam Mattress
The other thing for Casper is that it has a zone support construction, meaning one of those transitional layers of foam – it’s actually three different pieces of foam – so the center of the bed will be a little bit firmer and more supportive. And the top and the bottom of the bed, you know where you would put your shoulders, you will have more pressure relief there. So even if you rotate the bed, you’re still getting more pressure relief under your shoulders. If you’re laying on your side it’s going to be very subtle, you probably won’t notice it.
I think it’s something that’s nice that they added because you know you’re going to have this bed for 7 or, you know, 10 years or something. But in any case it will have a little bit more support where the majority of your weight is.
Also I did mention that both companies have Hybrid options. It is actually an option with Casper. With Leesa you’re getting a totally different bed. So with Leesa, if you want the coils, if you’re a little bit heavier, you want the balance or the airflow. Or whatever it is, you should check out Leesa Hybrid. I’ll try to link that down below.
Casper is about a medium-firm. It’s incredibly comfortable. It’s got some cushioning. It’s a really nice bed, but it’s more expensive than if you were to just add coils to the standard Casper mattress. So that’s kind of like an upgrade that they offer you at checkout. You’ll see that you can either get the all foam construction, or you can add the coils. And the coils will give you a little bit more bounce and support. They will cost just a little bit more, but it might be a smart option if you are open to having coils with your mattress.
Casper Foam Mattress
Casper by the way is a 12-inch foam bed by default, and it’s 12 inches if you have the coils. Leesa is around 10 inches. If you are closer to maybe 215 pounds or something, you might prefer having just a little bit more foam underneath you.
The last thing for Casper is that the cover is easier to remove. Now you’re not really supposed to remove the covers on either of them, but if you do need to spot clean it, like wash it with a little bit of warm water and detergent by hand, it’s easier to take off the cover on Casper, and kind of get in there and dig in there and clean out any of those stains. If you are worried about stains just get a mattress protector for either of them. I don’t really like mattress protectors, but if you’re getting it for a kid, it may make sense.
Now let’s talk about Leesa! – Best Bed In A Box?
One thing for Leesa is price. I mentioned that the price is essentially the same. It really is on an MSRP basis. They’re both about $1,000 for the queen size. About 50% of people use a queen size. That’s why we reference that. But they’re right about $1,000 each after discount, though there may be a difference.
Leesa Memory Foam Mattress
Leesa often drops down to just below $900 or somewhere right around there. And then Casper will come down to pretty close to $900. They are super close, like all these prices are subject to change, because they do change them. But I would say, you know, you may be able to save just a little bit of money with Leesa. So that may be something that maybe sways you one way or the other.
Also the other thing about Leesa is it’s just a tinge firmer. So if you are a back or stomach sleeper, maybe you maybe you think a little bit harder about Leesa. And then if you do want a softer bed, like I mentioned Leesa Legend, it’s more expensive, but it’s one of the nicest beds out there. If you want the firmer bed, get Leesa Hybrid.
My final verdict: They’re both comfy foam beds. It may come down to price. You know one thing that may get you to get Casper is the zone support or the option of coils. One thing that may get you get Leesa is maybe a tiny bit firmer, and maybe a tiny bit more affordable. Sometimes, the prices may even change.
I think you can kind of close your eyes and pick a bed, you’ll be happy. They feel very similar. What would I do is I tend to sleep a little bit more on my side, so I might get Casper. But these are both great beds!
So let me know what you think! I hope you enjoy our sincerity and how much time we put on our articles. Have a great day!
