Best Mattress For Side Sleepers With Lower Back Pain
Hey guys! Today we’re talking about the best mattresses for somebody that has low back pain and specifically we’re talking about side sleepers.
I, myself, am mostly a side sleeper though I do tend to rotate between different positions. I have low back pain. I injured it playing sports or working out and it just plagued me for years, probably going on almost ten years now.
So I feel your pain maybe not to the extent that you feel your pain but hopefully this video is helpful for you. If that’s the case, give us a thumbs up we’d really appreciate that.
So before we get into the list a few pieces of criteria that we used to select the list, the first thing was that we wanted very limited downside. Anytime we’re talking about somebody that has a special health condition, we want you to be able to return the bed so all of the beds in this video can be returned. There are some that won’t have 100% free returns but certainly in the majority of them, we’ll have 100% free returns.
They’ll come with free shipping and some sort of very generous trial period so you get to try them at your house for typically three months, sometimes four months, sometimes even longer. All of them will come with at least a 10-year warranty.
Regardless of your weight, your material preferences, temperature preferences, all of that other stuff, the one thing you’re looking for is it bed that’s supportive. Because a lot of times when you’re experiencing lower back pain, the bed is giving too much under your trunk, your hips and that’s throwing your lower back out.
All of these beds are very supportive and they have different options in terms of firmness because some people, that are really petite, want a softer bed. If you’re sleeping underside, if you’re closer to 250, you can get by with a bed that’s a little bit firmer and indeed you probably will prefer that.
So let’s get to the list!
PURPLE – BEST MATTRESS FOR SIDE SLEEPERS WITH LOWER BACK PAIN
First, we selected what we’re calling a new concept and that’s Purple.
The reason we selected Purple is that you might be sick of what’s out there. You might have tried innerspring beds, memory foam beds, latex foam beds, air beds, water beds, etc. all this stuff but you probably haven’t tried a bed like Purple.
One of the big things that Purple markets is that they can help with things like pressure points with support. They have a very interesting comfort layer. It’s not a foam, it’s hyper-elastic polymer which is kind of like a big Dr. Scholl’s insole and what it does is it’s almost firm and soft at the same time.
When you need pressure relief, namely for your shoulders and your hips, it’s gonna conform to you and you’ll probably find it to be really comfortable and accommodating. But in the areas where you want to support under your trunk, maybe if you switch to your stomach or your back, you want to feel kind of like you’re buoyed on top of the bed and that’s how it makes you feel almost weightless.
Now for somebody that is experiencing low back pain, you have a couple of different options with purple.
If you’re really petite, the original bed should be fin. If you’re anywhere from 170 pounds and above, you probably want to get the beds with the coils so Purple 2, 3 or 4. Purple 2 is the the firmest, Purple 3 is kind of in the middle and I think that’s the sweet spot for a lot of people and then Purple 4 is unbelievably nice but also quite expensive.
It’s a reason to make the list is it’s soft and firm at the same time, it’s great for temperature regulation and it’s unlike anything you’ve ever tried before. Purple doesn’t tend to offer cash discounts much but during major holidays you can get some sort of bundle, savings or something.
ZONE SUPPORT: CASPER
Next up is sort of a genre of beds, not necessarily one individual beds, its beds that have a zone support.
So the ones that come to mind are Casper Wave, Casper and Casper hybrid.
All of these beds have a little bit more support where the majority of your weight will be under your hips and trunk. Whether it’s in the foams or in the coils, they’ll be more supportive and then for the areas that you want to pressure relief, mostly for your shoulders and upper back, they’re a little bit softer and more conforming.
FLIPPABLE BED: LAYLA
Then next up we also have another genre of beds we’re talking about, flippable beds because they have some of the same advantages that we’ve talked about with other beds.
You’re sort of getting two beds in one, you’re getting one side that’ll be a little softer or one side that’ll be a little bit firmer and you can flip it to see which one best pleases your back, also your shoulders and upper back.
The one that came to mind is Layla so. Layla is incredibly popular, it’s a new style of memory foam where it’s very fluffy and airy. If you’re more petite, you can check out the soft side. If you’re kind of my size maybe up to 230, check out the firm side. With this bed you get, you have the two options and you definitely decide that’s softer if you need more pressure relief for your shoulders. This bed comes with free shipping and returns.
That’s it for the list! Hopefully it was helpful, have a great day! Remember to give us a thumb up and check out our site!
